String Machine II. A Musical Collaboration.

October 28, 2011 by Synth Eastwood

The Goethe-Institut Ireland was set up to forge links between Irish and German cultures. Tonight to celebrate the institutes 50th year they are staging a live music collaboration between Irish and German traditional and electronic musicians. The commission was entitled String Machine II and comprises of original compositions for stringed instruments created by Donal Lunny and Leopold Hurt. These arrangements will provide the sole source of audio to be digitally recomposed by electronic artists Stephan Mathieu and D1 record’s David Donohue & Eamon Doyle.

As well as the delivery of the above compositions the evening will provide solo performances from the artists. The event takes place tonight in the Project Art Centre at 7:30pm. Entrance is free and a CD of the four commissioned works will be given out on admission.
