George Higgs and The Jimmy Rig Slip Jig

July 18, 2011 by Al

Having had the honour of a performance at our Homemade show in 2009, Synth Eastwood are very excited about the return of The Jimmy Rig Slip Jig. The installation is part man, part machine and part engineering, part performance. In creating the installation George Higgs has housed a series of handmade acoustic instruments into a moveable frame and has prepared specific compositions for them. The music is played by 6 machinists whom encourage unworldly sounds from a series of household materials.

The show must be seen to be believed and it can be this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Exchange Dublin. More details here.

The video above shows the machinists tweaking the beast… See it in full swing after 3 mins.
