Wants for Sale

November 7, 2011 by Karl

We got sent this website last week and have been smiling about it since. ‘Wants For Sale‘ is a simple and brilliant idea started in 2007 by Christine & Justin Gignac. The way it works is simple. Christine & Justin paint an object they desire – such as a watch, a pair of trainers or a slice of pizza. They then sell the painting for the amount the real item is valued at. A painting of pizza sells at $3.00, a painting of a Gold Watch sells at $287.19. After each painting is sold, the original item is then purchased and photographed for their website. They paint an object they desire, sell the painting and use the money to buy the desired object. I think. The diagram below probably explains it a lot better.

What’s even better is that the Gignacs use this great idea for charity too. You can now buy paintings of meals, homes, lessons, toys and more for a range of different charities. More on that here (we’ll remind folks about this closer to Christmas too).

Visit the full ‘Wants For Sale‘ site and store right here.

Thanks to NF for the heads up.
