Bring Your Own Beamer

August 12, 2011 by Davey

BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) is a series of one-night-exhibitions hosting artists and their projectors. You bring your own projector and laptop, the organisers provide the power sockets. Rafaël Rozendaal who came up with the concept strongly encourages anyone to set up their own exhibition and even helps promote the events on his BYOB website. The idea originated in Berlin and has spread worldwide in the last year.

Anyone in the London area should check out a very special BYOB event in the Roundhouse tomorrow night (13th August) as part of the Curtain Call season. Architect/designer/artist, Ron Arad has installed a 360° screen made from 5,600 silicon rods, suspended from an 18 metre diameter ring. For one night only it will be a BYOB free for all with up to 40 projectionists expected.

See you there.
