The amazing work of Vivian Maier

February 14, 2011 by Dave

Told in the video above is the amazing story of Vivian Maier and her unseen street photography. Born in Chicago in 1926 Maier spent 20-30 years taking beautiful photographs but not apparently showing anyone. After her death in 2009 her entire body of work was destined for obscurity until a chance purchase at a garage sale. What followed is nothing short of sensational… over 100,000 incredible negatives.

Her images and story have shocked the world of street photography and changed the life of John Maloof, the man who bought them. More info about Maier’s work and the efforts being made to publish her can be seen here.

A really nice story to start the week.
