A Treehouse Not for Kids

July 19, 2012 by Synth Eastwood

As part of Ghent Art Festival Track, visual artist Benjamin Verdonck has exhibited an installation that is sure to stop passersby’s in their own tracks. Using all his experience as a theater director in Antwerp Benjamin has attempted to bring a connection between the young and old erecting a lifelike senior citizen home in the dream plot of a child’s treehouse. The placement of this piece in Vogelenzang park, a senior community site and quality of the reproduction is what makes it so striking. The attention to detail of the replica including cement render on the base to the faked bricks are quite remarkable.
Here is a video of the making of it.
