  3. FOXES Wins an IFTA

    Big congratulations to Lorcan Finnegan and Lovely Productions for winning an Irish Film & Television Academy award for their short film FOXES. I was lucky enough to catch the premiere of the short at the Cork Film Festival last November. The spooky tale really stood out in the company of many other great Irish short films.     This day in 1824 and inventor called Samuel Plimsoll was born. Plimsoll invented a simple graphic that has since saved millions of lives.     The Offset 2012 schedule has been released and as always it is jam packed with talks and discussions from the worlds leading creatives.   6. Bicycle School Bus

    In a country so synonymous with bicycles it is no surprise the Dutch are at the forefront of cycling technology. Over 50% of daily travel in Holland is pedal-based and this healthy respect for human powered transport has inspired a school bus that the children cycle themselves. Manned by one adult the Bicycle School Bus seats 8 children pedaling plus a bench seat for 3 esteemed passengers. Built by Tolkamp Metaalspecials the maximum speed is 10 miles per hour and the design comes with an awning to fight off wet weather. Great Idea.... [Read more]

Check out the possibilities in the world of 3D printing in "A Primer" on the subject delivered by Lisa Harouni at a recent Ted Talk in London.     I've always admired the colourful coach-tour buses that roll into town every summer each one trying out shine the next with bright graphics. Paris based Taylor Holland has obviously shared the same admiration but taken this to the next level and compiled a glorious photo series.
